There exist a set of UNIX(R) based tools to perform:
1) multi-part binhex file combining ->"bhcomb"
   (I actually wrote this one myself!)
2) binhex to macbinary (and its flavors) conversion ->"xbin"
3) macbinary (and its flavors) downloads to the Mac via "MacTerminal 1.1 Mode"
   ("Mac XModem" for Versaterm users) -> "macput" (and, of course, "macget")
4) unsit, for those who want to use it -> "unsit"

The flavor that has come my way DOES have several differences commonly
available outside of AT&T.  They are not necessarily better in all respects
than those commonly available.  The changes may have possibly introduced some
bugs.

Email to individuals would be a real pain, as the compressed, cpio'ed files
are quite a bit larger than mailers typically handle without barfing (or have
things changed recently?).

Any discussion?
