Recently I purchased a mac IIci 5/80 and much to my despair it came with
sys7.01 + tune up

this was purchased late Dec.92 picked up on Dec 24 just in time for Christmas!!

It was my understanding that Apple was in the practice of delivering the
current system software with new macintosh purchases. Has this changed?

Thank you for your time and effort.

It's also my understanding that if you buy a stock Mac after the release
date of new system software, that you can get copies of the new system
software for free. Call Apple (sorry, no number available) for details.
