I have a MacPlus w/4MegRAM and a Brainstorm accelerator & 120Meg HD

Lately I have run into a series of memory related problems, I don't have enough
of it!! Being a plus, it seems rediculous to buy another expansion card when
for for the money I could upgrade.

Well, I now find that I have a budget of approx 2-3,000 for a "new" system.

I don't know which way to go and that is the problem.

I intend on doing the following on this "new" machine:

-programming in C (think or ++) I would like to write some applications which
would take info thru the mac's various ports.cost 1.5Meg

-word processing, My editor of choice is M.S.Word currently 4.0 but with the
new machine I hope to go to 5 or as high as they will take it. cost: 1.5Meg

-Graphic design, Presently I am using Super Paint 2.0 but I have 3.0 still in
wraps because of lack of a good machine to use it on. cost 1.5Meg

-3D modelling, I have been trying on&off to render a Number of puzzles using
SiliconBeach's Super3D but due to the slowness of my machine I found it faster
to do the designs on paper, unfortunately after drawing in all of the edges
and vertices They tend to look like an illustration for pick-up-sticks. With
the new machine I will be upgrading to 3D 2.x. cost:1Meg

-NewsReading, I will be using White Knight to call the Campus Computer on a
daily basis for an hour or so. cost:1Meg

So I need any and all suggestions from any one who uses one or more of these
applications or who does one or more of these items as to which machine would
be best for me.

As I stated I have about 2-3,000 USA to spend plus whatever I can get for the
old plus if My older brother doesn't want it first.

Please respond to the net, I need as involved a discussion as I can get so I
can make an informed decision.
-thank you
