In reply to the recent posting by "hokey", 

If you invoke the compiler as
	prompt% cc -v

You will get the version number. If you don't provide a file name, you will
have to kill it with a control-C.

Also, you ought to include the version of RTU which you can get with
	prompt% uname -a

If you hear from anyone with 'gcc' that works on Masscomps' please let me
know.
