Kermit on MASSCOMP 5400

I have a MC5400 that also has C-KERMIT on it. I have not been able
to use the KERMIT to dial out from the computer. Everytime I try to
access one of the terminal lines, it complains about not be able to
get exclusive use. Any ideas out there?

Please mail any responses to one of the addresses below, I am not
yet on this mailing list. Thanks in advance.

------

[ Did you compiler kermit in the ATT or UCB environment? Did you use
"make bsd" or "make rtu" to create kermit? Generally, this problem
results because kermit does not understand how to do UUCP line locking
very well. You can solve this one of two ways. You can ignore it or
make /usr/spool/uucp writeable by the world. I advise against making
kermit setuid uucp or root. -- sob
