Some time ago, Bill Sears (bill@bcsfse.UUCP) asked about connecting two computers together using a SCSI interface, wondering what sort of hardware would be needed. While I'm not a scsi expert, my understanding is that all you would need is a cable between the two systems and controller firmware that can handle the communication. The controllers would have to be able to act as both initiator and target. (In the scsi universe, the <initiator> requests an operation and the <target> carries it out.) Once the hardware, controller, and device-driver needs are taken care of, you can build your favorite network model without significant (scsi-specific) effort. You can also have disks or additional processors on the bus, up to it's limit of seven or eight (I forgot which). Martin Minow decvax!minow
