I think the poster was saying he didn't know how to check his setup without
first getting to C:

There are compatible universal setup programs you can find (freeware) to
run from your floppy drive.

: - if that is correct, check disk cables, try to replace the controller card;
:   if you're lucky, it's one of these, and not a fatal disk crash!

Good suggestions.

I think the poster imlied that Norton is only on his C: drive, so he can't
try it.

Anyway, the first thing to do is get a setup program for your floppy so
you can check the CMOS settings and make sure C: is still being recognized.
