I am trying to make a long null modem line.(30+ feet) I know that there
are only 5-6 connections required but I am not sure of the pins. I am
trying to use a 6wire phone line with no luck. This is what I have tried :

Computer 1 Computer 2
    Pin Pin
     2 ---------------- 3
     3 ---------------- 2
    4&5 -------------- 8
     7 ---------------- 7
     8 -------------- 4&5

Is this correct? Do I need more connections? Is it just my
saudering(sp, I know) job? Should I shield the cable? If so how?

Please help,

         John.
