Info-Stratus@mike.lrc.edu
This electronic mailing list is a user-centered and user-conducted forum
for discussing the fault-tolerant machines produced by Stratus Computer
Corporation and also their cousins, the IBM System/88 and Olivetti CPS-32.
Info-Stratus is not intended to replace the vendor-provided support
channels but to complement them. Subscribers to Info-Stratus will
exchange technical information and tap the collective experience of a
host of other professionals who use or develop software on Stratus-
architecture systems, or who configure and maintain hardware in the
Stratus environment.

I've received questions about access to this mailing list.
(1) "Can I subscribe to this list from the UUCP network?"
The list-host machine can handle addresses with bangs in them as long
as the address is constructed with a Fully Qualified Domain Name (FQDN)
in the right-most position. For instance, an address like this would
work:
host!username@uunet.uu.net
The mailing-list software tries hard to construct a usable address, but
your chances of success are greatest if your From: line has that form.
The software can also use
username%host.UUCP@somegateway.on.internet
(2) "Can I subscribe from BITNET?"
Since LRC is not directly on BITNET, this depends a lot on how
your local mail software is configured.
I've seen inconsistent results from different BITNET-to-Internet
gateways. But I think that one method for success is if you can
contrive to get a properly percent-hacked From: line and use the
gateway at NCSUVM.BITNET. Ask your local system manager if you
need help with this--I can't help you. The following "from"
address would work:
USER%NODE.BITNET@NCSUVM.CC.NCSU.EDU
(3) "Why didn't you say how to sign off in the announcement?"
The message you are sent automatically upon subscribing to the
list contains instructions on how to sign off the list.
