Seagate sold a bunch of ST220s, 238s, and 251s (I believe there were
two version of the 251- the ST251 & the ST251-1, the latter being
faster: 40ms vs 28ms).  They largely brought hard disk computing to
the masses.  With the large quantity sold, I wouldn't be surprised to
find more than a few horror stories.  The 3 251s I've been around are
all still working after many years of service (I've now forgotten
which particular models I have).
