This closely matches my feelings.  I've owned three Newtons, and
have a QuickTake camera.

If you're hooking any of these devices to a Macintosh, Apple's
technical support is spot on.  But if you're going to a PC, you
can almost forget it.

Comments from Apple on trying to get a PC hooked to a QuickTake: 
  "What version of System are you running?"  
  "You can't use that with your notebook. You need a 14" display"
  "Remove all the software and reinstall" (heard this one 3 times)
  "You can't use a QuickTake with a PC"

My camera still locks up every time I try to use it, and I've only
manged to get a few pictures off by borrowing a friend's Mac.
It makes a keen paperweight, though.

The Newton experience was similar.
