I have now tried several different approaches to this but I have now got the hang on binhex and then unstuff to sort out the packages ready for the package loader to work with. - a Mac to Imagewriter cable, the mini din end to the newton and the other to the serial port of the PC. - a mini 8 cable with mini dins at both ends which I intend to use to connect to my HP DJ850C - a cable described as AT -> Mac. This has a mini din for the newton end and a female connector for the PC serial port. I kicked off Windows terminal and the latter cable seems to send differing data to the PC depending on whether I try to connect to DOS/Windows, Mac serial printer or Appletalk printer. Therefore data is leaving the Newton. But; and this is the problem, the Newton just hangs waiting for a response that never seems to come and eventually times out. The package installer occasionally locks up one of my PCs, a PC which has one serial port, COM1 and an internal modem on COM4. The only ports which the package installer recognises on this PC are COMs 2 and 3 which aren't even installed. Any suggestions at all anyone; any suppliers in the UK who may help, anyone selling a Windows connection kit ? TIA Mike Harvey sjohn@dircon.co.uk
