Announcing ScreenCast
ScreenCast lets you broadcast the display of one NeXTSTEP computer to
other computers on the same network. Everything that appears on the
sender's display -- typing, window movements, mouse actions -- is
simultaneously echoed on the displays of the receiving machines.
But the receiving machines can do more than echo the image of the
sender's display. Each participant in a ScreenCast session can
interact with the shared image. Typing and mouse actions on any
machine in the ScreenCast group appear on all machines in the group.
Thus, ScreenCast removes the barriers to truly collaborative
computing.
How often have you called someone to your computer to show something
or ask a question? With ScreenCast you can simply talk on the phone
while you both look at -- and interact with -- the shared display. It
doesn't matter whether the person is across the hall or across the
country. And, if others are needed in the discussion, you can add
them to the conference call and to the ScreenCast session.
ScreenCast is perfect for providing user support within an
organization. Support personnel can easily view the screen of the
person having the problem and show them what to do to solve it.
ScreenCast is also great for educational computer labs where students
can easily see on their computers what is happening on the
instructor's.
FEATURES
- Broadcasts the sender's display to one or more receivers.
- Broadcast can be initiated by either the sender or the receiver.
- Number of receivers limited only by network capacity (~25 machines
is a practical limit).
- Receivers can click on and type in the broadcast windows just as if
they were actually on their computer.
- Remote interaction with sender's display can be disabled if
desired.
- Receivers can easily switch between viewing the broadcast display
and their local display.
- Receivers can be added or subtracted while broadcasting is in
progress.
- Broadcasting between color and black and white computers is fully
supported.
