Sunnyvale, CA CD Technology is pleased to announce that their top-of-the line CD-ROM drive, the CD Porta-Drive, is now available at a special 35% discount (SCSI cable not included) to all NeXT users over the net. The CD Porta-Drive, a high performance (325ms) durable drive that's small and portable, has been tested with NeXT Cubes and NeXTStations running NeXTStep 2.1 and beyond. The drive is recognized automatically at system boot time (drive type 3301XA). It will then be mounted automatically by the OS. No user involvement or special intervention is needed to use the drive. Lab testing has also shown that changing CD-ROMs is a truly easy task: simply eject the disk inside the drive and insert a new one. System reboot is not required. Also, both MS-DOS and Macintosh based CDs are mountable as well. For additional information, please contact Gordon Clarke. Be sure you mention this announcement to qualify for the special discount.
