Dear Netland, I guess it is time for me to jump in. I have NOT posted any c.s.n.a stuff since it is a heated debate and some deserve to go and some don't. I have been told what the general gist of the ***.announce is about, and pricing was NOT stated as being a no-no... I did indeed put to a questionaire about how you felt on the prices. My personal feelings are not important here, but there was only ONE person in 20 or so reponses stating prices should NOT be included. That is only 5 percent. Now let me state some simple facts and observations, not trying to be biased and one sided. The USENET is NOT supposed to be used for commercial use, in general. The group c.s.n.a is supposed to be used to inform, and it would seem prices are a very important part to many individuals in the information aquisition process (as seen in the response I got 2 months ago). X'in out prices does NOT decrease the noise of the net, and to some it would seem it just increases the noise, because they can't get a complete understanding of the product position. Some feel it is a blaitant misuse of the Net to do price included postings, and from a historical standpoint this is correct. Many companies are using the Net, being charged for the connection services (as are many individuals) of user groups. Sites can and have the option not to subscribe to certain groups, as seen with the alt.sex.x.x branch of the Usenet News. These are just my personal observations. Again trying to outline to many who are calling for me to change the focus (Irving are you listening) of the c.s.n.announce group. I have for many months considered a vote for guidance and I think it is time. I will put together a questionaire for you to answer based to help shape the group within the 'legal' boundaries I have been presented in the past few months. It is time to get out the electronic ballot boxes to help make the c.s.n.announce group more of what you want. Please make sure you tell a neighbor about this, and make sure you only respond once. Put a receipt on the filled out questionaire, so you will have proof of purchase ;'). The questionaire will be short and to the point (not like this long letter of intent). If there is anyone interested in helping compose the questionaire (it will be non-biased, so all hot heads on this issue can just sit back and wait) I would be very interested in talking to you. Please email me directly at <todd@liveware.com> with your submission of help. Please put a subject of "CSNA Questionaire Volunteer Request" so I can sort it out. Otherwise I may overlook your request. Well, that is all I have to say. I thank Gordon of Metrosoft for getting the ball rolling and Happy-Man for being so darn pissed all the time. If I can, I will try to get a group of people together by the end of the week. I hope this is in time to get most of the NeXT community settled down for a fun and uneventful weekend of programming ;'). Regards, Todd Nathan csna modman PS. If you have questions about this letter of intent or other points of interest, I would be happy to handle them directly. If you must post public bashings of my letter, remember to include you full name, address and what you look like ;'). PPS. The cross posting was done to make sure a broad base of net users get this letter of intent and know about how c.s.n.announce is dealing with the issue of price inclusion.
