Announcing Presto version 0.9.6b Pinnacle Research Inc. has just finished a new revision of Presto, the premiere music sequencing package for the NeXT computer. In addition to fixing a few bugs, the new version introduces some new features: - NoteFilters: NoteFilters are a mechanism for non-destructive processing of notes in real-time. NoteFilters allow operations as simple as pitch or velocity transposition, or as complex as algorithmic music generation. As with Transforms, NoteFilters are dynamically loaded, making them completely user-extendable. - Multi-part selections: It is now much more convenient to re-arrange sections of a score, since measure selections in the Score Window can now span all parts. A multi-part selection is made by holding down the Alternate key while making a selection in the ScoreView. Unfortunately for those who have not made the switch to 3.0, THIS VERSION OF PRESTO (0.9.6b) WILL BE THE LAST VERSION THAT WILL OPERATE UNDER NeXTSTEP 2.x. We are sorry that this changeover may prevent a few people from using subsequent versions of Presto, but we feel the new features we will be able to add under 3.0 make moving to the newer version of the OS desirable for the vast majority of our users. Presto version 0.9.6b has been uploaded to the sonata.cc.purdue.edu archive sites (the filename is Presto_v0.9.6b.tar and it is currently in the submissions directory). It will run in demo mode (saving scores is disabled) until activated with a license key obtained from Pinnacle Research. For more information on Presto, please send email to info@pri.com (NeXTmail welcome) or contact us at: Pinnacle Research, Inc. 4725 E.
