You can buy a stereo phono->1/8" jack cable and plug it into your
sound box/monitor microphone input.  Then, use some sort of sound
app to play the current input. (I'm not sure what's the best to do this
without recording the sound too)
Of course, you can buy amplified speakers, too.  They're very
available, now that sound cards are commonplace for PC's and
everyone needs magnetic shielded speakers for the sides of their
monitors.

 The sound data can't travel over the SCSI interface to your computer.  
Very few CD-ROM drives have this capability (the SGI unit is the only 
one I know of). (Well, actually, it's in the drive BIOS, 
but Dave Olsen (sp?) will come in and correct me if I'm wrong :-)
