Trouble with mac-next serial connection on NS3.0

I have a mac hooked to my ttya and a modem hooked to my ttyb.
Both of these worked fine under NS2.1, but I just tryed the
mac-next connection for the first time since upgrading to NS3.0
and found that it no longer works. The modem connection works
fine. I've tried switching cables and switching ports, but it
still doesn't work. Now I'm suspecting that the problem is in
the software. Has anything changed with getty or the port software?

Here are two lines from my /etc/ttys:

ttya	"/usr/etc/getty std.19200"	vt100 on
ttyb	"/usr/etc/getty std.38400"	unknown off secure

Does anyone have any more things for me to try?
