I don't see Adobe Collectors Edition (collections of PS fills and borders) anywhere being sold for NeXT. There are some samples though, in Adobe Illustrator gallery files /patterns and arrows. There appears to be a Mac version (according to Adobe's faxback). Anyone know if this works out of the box on NeXT? I gather they come as Illustrator or EPS clips. I got the samples to work as tiled fills in Virtuoso. Will follow up on how if there's interest. ------------------------------------------------------------------ |Glenn Holm Internet:karuzis@wccf.mit.edu| |M.I.T Dept. of Brain + Cog. Sci. (you can get samples from Adobe's FaxBack at 415-968-7701, doc # 1058). to use the patterns in Virtuoso, what i did is: open the .ai file in Virtuoso (Collector's Ed. samples are in the Illustrator /gallery files under patterns and arrows, and Virtuoso reads and writes Illustrator format). rubberband around the sample pattern you want (the medium-size example with the repeating elements and clipping box) ungroup multiple times select and lock the clipping box rubberband around again to select everything else cut it unlock the clipping box and select it paste inside copy to pasteboard paste in in the Virtuoso tile fill inspector this is necessary because Virtuoso fills can't have elements that are tiled already or are already EPS. cutting and pasting them between Illustrator and Virtuoso crashes Virtuoso. and you want to have only the repeating element parts inside the bounding box copied to your pasteboard. the arrows and borders can just be dragged and dropped and sized. ------------------------------------------------------------------ |Glenn Holm Internet:karuzis@wccf.mit.edu| |M.I.T Dept. of Brain + Cog. Hi All, Why dont we have a NetLand NeXT Product of the year award/poll? We can have hardware, software, graphics--maybe different catagories? I just want a chance to say that I LOVE Virtuoso and it gets my overall product of the year award thumbs up!!! It is the best illustration program I've used on any platform period-end of story-no questions-hands down!!!!!!!!! And thats just from the demo! Now I have to save up a few more bux to clunk down the 300 bux edu price, but its so go its worth it! Well enough ranting by me. Whats everyone think of the Net Land Best Product of the Year Award? Then the winners can proudly display that they one on there software/hardware and adds. I would be willing to do all of the polling, but if some one else wants to I have no problems. Now All we have to do is think up the catagories and a name for the award. POLYA (Product of Last Year Award?) Lame? just a thought. Catagories? Software: Illustration Painting DTP DataBase SpreadSheet Communication MultiMedia 3D WordProcessing Audio Game Developer Utility Hardware: Graphic Video Storage Printer Communication Display ???? Anyway. Those are just some "I'm on break--off from school until jan 20--got nothn better to do" thoughts. What do you all think? later, John -- NeXT Campus Consultant---Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey |my %^) John Kheit/monoChrome | Opinions expressed represent me only! |fried %-) 173 Westgate Drive | Audix Voice Mail# (415) 366-0900 X5512 |brain %>) Edison, NJ 08820-1163 | kheit@hangout.rutgers.edu,szatrows@gandalf.rutgers.edu
