Edward Murphy writes | | i haven't been able to find much knowledge regarding the construction of | nextmail headers. specifically, what mechanism (field header, magic spell, | whatever) determined where a *read receipt* is returned to. anyone who has | any inkling and could drop me a note, i'd appreciate it. | | pointers to where i might find it in the next documentation | (waaaaaahahahahahaa) would suffice, yea, even be preferred. | | ed murphy | grad slave from mars No documentation, just something I noticed. i.e. the line which says: Received: by NeXT Mailer (1.63) will be the following if a Read Receipt has been requested by the sender: Received: by NeXT Mailer (1.63.RR) Obviously, the actual mailer version number may be different, but the ".RR" is constant. I search for the string ".RR)" on incoming mail and filter it to prevent receipts from being generated when I read the mail the first time. I wouls assume that the mail is simply returned to the person or address listed in the header after From:, but I've never bothered to verify if that is always true. I leave that test as an exercise for interested parties. -- Brian Willoughby Software Design Engineer, BSEE NCSU BrianW@SoundS.WA.com Sound Signal Processing Software and Consulting NeXTmail welcome - NO EMAIL SOLICITATION without prior permission
