I have a set of programs (derived from Eric P. Scott's IWF 2.0) which receive PostScript files from a main server on the net, rip them using the machportdevice operator, create Xerox 9790 interleaved graphic files and send the graphic files back to the main server to be printed. I use the machportdevice operator and the NeXTLaser-300 pixel encoding dictionary. Under NeXTStep 2.1 this setup worked fine... Now I have upgraded to 3.0. When I get certain files which have the image operator in them, I get this error on the console: Oct 14 10:52:11 clients-r-us WM[process#]: DPS client library error: Error while writing to connection, DPSContext context#, data -102 for each process that is using the windowserver. The cursor disappears and then BANG!...I'm logged out. If I use the NeXTCBJ pixel encoding dictionary everything seems to work o.k. In <mach/message.h> -102 is defined like this: #define SEND_INVALID_PORT -102 /* Reference to inacessible port */ Have I stumbled on a bug in NeXTStep 3.0? Am I even looking in the right direction? Is there a way I can rip PostScript files with PostScript Level 2 without even using the machportdevice operator? Are there any examples out there? Am I asking too damned many questions?
