After playing around with DBKit, I have discovered that it does a simple select to fill a DBRecordList, for example, to display in a DBTableView. If you make changes to the data, it is made to the RecordList. Sending the DBModule a "saveChanges" messages causes the kit to do a "select for update" on the affected rows, and then the SQL update or delete as appropriate. The behavior I want in my user interface is different. I want to do a simple read to display data, but then be able to press a button labeled "edit", which re-reads the data using a select for update clause, so the rows affected are locked until I update the data or cancel the edit. The question is, how can I do this without having to resort to using a DBBinder and my own associations, etc. Thanks for any and all help! Mike Bray mrb@earth.wustl.edu
