I'd like to start doing some data acquisition/processing on the NeXT using
digital ears. I pretty much understand how to get samples into the DSP from
the ears (thanks to Jean LaRouche's text/code), but am much more shaky on how
to get into to the host, and onto disk. I want to be as flexible as possible
with the data transfer, as I hope to do a little processing of the data on the
DSP before sending it to the host, and therefore the data will not necessarily
look like a standard stream of sound.
If someone could point me to some documentation or some VERY well
documented code, I would be very grateful.

ps - what about the possibility of a unit generator that got data from the dig
ears and passed it on so that other unit generators could modify it? It seems
that the main problem would be setting up the SSI interrupts. Is this
possible?
