I need to record, compress and playback huge sounds (>55M) with random access into the sounds. I know that NeXT's ATC uses frames which represent ATC_FRAME_SIZE (256) samples each, but I don't know enough about ATC to know if I can uncompress frames individually or if each frame uses information from the previous frame. Any pointers to articles about ATC would be greatly appreciated also. If I can't uncompress frames individually I'll need to break each sound into chunks which would then be compressed. Even if I can uncompress frames individually I'll need to set up an index structure so I can get to any frame quickly without having to jump from frame to frame. The format specifies that each frame says how large it is, giving a pointer to the next frame. It would be easier to use ATC as it is, so I hope the answer is yes. Thanks, Monty
