What happens we you (try to) upgrade the c/c++ compiler on the NeXT to a newer version (i.e. gcc 2.0, 2.1). It is my understanding (from the man page) that NeXT put a lot into the version that they shipped. What is the practive and experience of people using the newer gcc versions -- do you have to retain the older version for compatibility and use the newer version just for stand alone projects; is any aspect of objective C broken in the new gcc releases; how do you manage to install the new version without interfering with the NeXT supplied header files, etc. Can anyone elaborate on the proper why to update the NeXT platform. Does NeXT have any explicit recommendations and will they be shipping a newer version with the 3.0 OS -- how will that version relate to the GNU versions? bryan
