I noticed that applications can be dragged into Edit in 3.0.  Is this now
a supported feature of rtfd in the text object, or just an added feature
in Edit and Mail?  I haven't seen it documented anywhere.

You could always drag applications into Mail.  Edit now allows you to drag in  
any kind of file.  Double-clicking on it causes an open-file message to be sent  
to workspace.
