Starting with two oft-reported bugs that you might run across:
#14996: This is verification that tmpnam(), contrary to its charter to
produce a unique file name, returns the same filename each time it's
called. I recommend using mktemp() or NXTempFilename().
#25247: A late-breaking bug specific to Release3.0 - The IB palette
Makefile doesn't pay attention to OTHER_LIBS so you can't link a library
into a palette. As a workaround, you can add your library to OTHER_OFILES.
#6196: For historical and entertainment purposes, a bit of ancient history
from Release 1.0, but a true classic. I had this friend who liked to tear
off his "Windows" menu in Edit. (it was called "Activate" back then,
remember back that far?) Sometimes in the process of opening and closing
windows, his Windows menu would grow upward in such a way that the title
bar was completely off the screen. You couldn't move the menu or close
it, you had to quit and restart Edit to get that menu back. He called me
up and told me this and I tried unsuccessfully to reproduce it. He then
sent me a screen shot of his orphaned Windows menu, trying to convince me
he wasn't imagining things. I tore off my Windows menu and left it out
for a week and no matter how many windows I opened and closed, my menu
always grew downward and never off the screen. The bug got filed anyway
and the famous and talented Ali Ozer tracked down. There are two menu
items ("New" and "Open") which add an item to the Windows menu and cause
it to grow. You can get to these menu items in two ways: click-dragging
in one motion through the File menu or click-clicking to get the File menu
up and then selecting. When you click-click, the menu always grew down
like it should. When you click-drag, the menu grew upward and off the
screen. Once you know the secret, it's infinitely reproducible. And also
fixable, as was done for the 2.0 release.
