Making a text field respond to any keystroke

I'd like to be able to make a text field in a particular window to respond
to any keystrokes on the keyboard whenever that window is open and not just
when you click on the field. Is this possible? I'm not sure where to look
in Librarian to find the answer. Please respond via e-mail and do your little
bit to reduce bandwidth. Thanks.
