Help with SNDStartRecording

HI, I was wondering if someone might have an idea as to what would cause the following problem. What happens is that I play back a sound using SNDStartPlaying, it works fine because the sound finishs playing with no errors, and then I try to do a SNDStartRecording, not immediately after or during the playback of the other. When I do this I get the error 'Record cannot access hardware resources.' (31 I believe). I have tried using the SNDReserve and SNDUnreserve for both of them, but neither seem to fix the problem. The only way to cope with that prob is to use different tasks ( not threads ! ).
