Hi. I'm interested in learning how to program NeXT apps. I'm C-fluent (although I don't know much about Objective-C), and know X11/Xt/Motif fairly well. Any book recommendations? I really just want a primer-type book.. the >$200 set I've seen talked about here is a bit too much for me. thanks.. rj

The only book that covers some of the the latest NeXTSTEP version, 3.0, is NeXTSTEP Programming, Step One:... by Garfinkle and Mahoney (ISBN 0-387-97884-4). However, I was told that it is just being published so may not be available in bookstores yet. My 8 December order placed with the publisher, Springer-Verlag, has resulted in an invoice that states that it's "Not yet published" with the estimated publication date being 02/93!! Has anyone received this book yet? -- Art Isbell Cubic Solutions NeXT Registered Developer #745 NeXT software development and consulting NeXTmail: isbell@cats.UCSC.EDU Voice: (408)335-1154 USmail: 95018-9442 Fax: (408)335-2515

Supposedly, our first order for 45 copies is about to arrive. Our second order, however, will not ship until after New Year's Day because the publisher's actual operations are closed for Christmas. If anyone hasn't ordered his copy yet, we're still accepting e-mail orders with credit card and shipping info. Our (roughly 6%) discounted Usenet price is $40 including U.S. shipping. (Foreign orders are at $50.) The Addison-Wesley NeXTSTEP Developer's Library is also still available, with a 15% discount and free shipping. -- Irving_Wolfe@Happy-Man.com Happy Man Corp. 206/463-9399 x101 4410 SW Pt. I picked up my copy at the local bookstore yesterday. He got 25 copies in
2 days ago, and needless to say, they're all gone by now.
