I tried to link libNeXT_s.a with rld into an executable, but got an error telling me that rld can't load 'fixed vm shared libraries'. I can get around that by extracting the object modules I need and grouping them into a selfmade library, but that's an ugly way to go. Does anybody know if there's a more elegant solution? And, just for curiosity, is there any inherent reason why it shouldn't be possible to dynamically load from shared libraries, or is this just a limitation of rld? Frank

libNeXT_s.a is an "Archive" library. A shared library has an .sl extension and contains some relocation (or whatever they call it) information. HP-UX allows you to use either at link-time. -- Hardy ----- Meinhard E. Mayer, Department of Physics, UC Irvine e-mail: hardy@golem.ps.uci.edu (preferred) or MMAYER@UCI.BITNET
