Pro Lexis is a French Dictionary and Spelling Checker compatible with WriteNow and WordPerfect on the NeXT and QuarkExpress 3.0+ on the Macintosh. A demo is available on the NeXT CD ROM "Third Party Demonstration Software Q2 1992" This software was developed by Diagonal from France. Pro Lexis is extremely fast and powerful with a dictionary of over 500,000 words - A speed of 6,000 words per second on the NeXT - Complete verb conjugations (all tenses, including the pronominal form) - User Dictionaries with Import possibilities of technical terms in foreign languages and a lot more. With such a convenient tool online, developers should not hesitate to put translators to work in order to properly localize their applications. If only developers could understand the importance of localization for all those non-english speaking people. Stone Design, for one, has understood and foreseen a great opportunity by being the first major NeXT developer to offer DataPhile and Create fully localized in English, French, Spanish and German. International markets are vital to any serious company wishing to expand its market share. Germans and Japanese have understood this quite a while ago. Check the brand names of your cars, radios, TV sets, video recorders, etc. How would you like to read, as an english-speaking person, instruction manuals in Kanji, French, Spanish or German? The problem is what comes first? Localization when there is sufficient NeXT computers out there to command such a decision? - Or "LOCALIZATION NOW" to increase a market share, by inviting people to look at NeXT as a truly international platform where everyone can work in his or her native language? Patience is of the essence here. I have no doubt in my mind that NeXT will succeed abroad when people come to realize what extraordinary machines their computers are becoming. A machine with new dimensions. (Do not confuse with NeXT Dimension.) For more information on Pro Lexis (in French), contact Expovision Inc.
