I just dragged a file off my shelf (just to clear the slot), and I accidentally  released it over a Terminal window.  I expected it to disappear from the shelf, but instead it's full path name appeared on the Terminal window's command line!  I'm running 3.0, and on a 2.x machine the file just slid back to FileViewer.  Works for any file dragged to a terminal window from FileViewer's shelf or icon path.  A small thing, but pretty cool.
