You should take a good look at IDA sendmail, which is very easy to
configure.  You simply declare some stuff in a m4 config file, type
'make' and presto, you have a working sendmail.cf.

For example:

$ cat transsys.m4 
dnl #
define(ALIASES, /etc/sendmail/aliases)
define(LIBDIR, /etc/sendmail)
define(FORCE_NAMED)
define(PSEUDONYMS, wa3ymh.transsys.com transsys.com wa3ymh.umd.edu localhost.transsys.com)
define(UUCPNAME, wa3ymh)
define(UUCPNODES, sayshell)
define(BANGIMPLIESUUCP)
define(POSTMASTERBOUNCE, louie)
define(HIDDENDOMAIN, TransSys.COM)
include(Sendmail.mc)

And that's a bit more complicated that most.
