Ok, i want to post my experiences with tip (I am actually using thant @&^#$ thing for writing this lines). the UNIX put and get commands work ONLY with UNIX systems, and only with 7bit datas, please refer to the "Network and System Administration" Manual, that was supplied with your NeXT, you will find the manual pages properly formatet at the end. To make the thing worse, you have to be sure to use a "proper" shell, this means, a shell, that handles the escape-characters, like ^A properly, tcsh DOESN'T. Furthermore, you will have problems, with your Modem or Computer sending somewhat faster than the remote host, and you won't get all bytes in some casees (mostly while PUTting)!!! So, use Z-modem, kermit or something similar for binaries, it's safer! Sources known to me are: - tip3: A tip-clone written in very clean ObjC - pcomm: A ProComm clone with Vt100-Windows User-Interface - zmodem: A hell lot of good/bad usable & unusable sources (Speaking here in conjunction with tip!) - daniel -- Daniel G.
