I really think a "spiced up" > WriteNow would be superior (but at what cost?) given the superior NeXTstep > GUI, on-line documentation, etc. I concur wholeheartedly, but have a few comments about making MS Word the benchmark WP. The GUI was initially designed to be useful on those tiny Mac screens (how did I ever use them?) So a premium was placed on the judicious use of screen real estate - even at the expense of being intuitive. The way styles were managed is an example. This was the right tradeoff then, but not on a NeXT (or even large screen Mac) The basic simplicity of the model of a document (doc, section, para, char) is very nice. So I'ld vote for a NeXT flavored app similar to Word in simplicity for text but eliminating some of the bloat and simplifying some of the more arcane things (tables and equations could be easier to use) -- --------------------------------------------------- Alex Blakemore alex@cs.umd.edu NeXT mail accepted
