Objective-C "modem object", anyone?

Hi, I'm just starting to learn Objective C and NeXTStep, and was thinking that
perhaps a good first project that might teach me a lot would be to do a NeXT
port of the BSX mud client. Basically it's a program that draws graphics and
writes text from a remote multi-user game. However, as I'm not directly on
the network, before I can focus on how the hell to do the graphics, I need to
find some way to communicate with my modem so that I can watch for the various
messages that are meant for the client and not the user.

This doesn't have to be all that complicated of an object, but it had occured
to me that maybe someone has already written something that might make this
whole area easier to work with, since I don't really want to know how the modem
works, etc, I just want to be able to dial, read from it, send to it, and hang
up.

If you have anything, either post it or mail it... if it's after December 17
you should probably mail it because I'll be off the net for a few weeks.

Thanks in advance (if you can help ;-))

-Adam
