Hi, I am new to the NeXT world, and I just read most of the FAQs on NeXT. What really caught my attention was the section on NeXTstep 486. My question/ confusion is: Okay, so now NeXTstep will run on a 486 (and 386) class cpu. But does it also mean I can run all the software that is currently on NeXT on a clone? This sounds _way_ too good to be true (in terms of the amount of money spend, or am I wrong in that assumption? :) As of now, I can buy a decent 486/33, with the normal essentials for less than $3,000 (US), and that is a color system. And from what I've seen from c.s.n.marketplace, a color NeXT is in the $5,000+ range. Will the NeXTstep 486 BE a NeXT computer, but using the 80486 instead of the motorola 68040 cpu? Please send your words of wisdom to my email address (jimmys@ics.uci.edu) since I do not read this newsgroup regularly (yet!) Thanks in advance.
