My front door has been unlocked, (and in the summer, open) so long that I don't know where the key is. (I do have a watch dog. She watches everyone come up to the door to scratch her ears...) I leave the keys in the ignition all the time. Sure it's a risk. But I decided that I could go through life not trusting anyone, and keeping everything I own, or I could take a chance and trust people, and be a lot more relaxed. So far it's cost me 1 middle priced car tape deck, and one pair of skiis. Well worth it. In terms of Software, I like Borland's pricing on their language products. It seemed that the price of anything you bought from them was about equal to the price of photocopying the documentation. They were the ones who started the "Treat it like a book. Don't use it it two places at once." I don't know of anyone who has bothered to pirate their stuff. But I sure know about a lot of illegal copies of dBASE IV. Ashton-Tate's support was non-existent. They seemed to treat even their legit customers with contempt. And those customers responded. Borland gave good support, gave good value for the money, and their customers responded appropriately. (I keep pestering them for languages for the Next...)
