I think those are the educational prices. For 'real' people:

. Mathematica Plus program: $ 375 per annum.
Gets you at least two upgrades every year (including 2.1 this year).
. Upgrade to Mathematica 2.1 (from 2.0 I guess): $ 250.

New features / bug fixes (as per the blurb):

. Memory requirements for expressions reduced by 10 - 50 %
. Many algorithm enhancements and speed improvements.
. Sped up graphics - smoother contour lines (ContourPlot).
. Matrix manipulation: JordanDecomposition & LUDecomposition.
. 10 New packages & revised Guide, index added.
. Mathlink documentation and API improved, made more consistent.
. NeXT specific:
  - Remote kernel connection capabilities enhanced.
  - Stereo sound effect will work at a variety of sample rates.
  - Graphics Preferences provides control of the PostScript image
operator in the output of DensityGraphics & Raster objects.
  - Animations with sound enhanced: graphics associated with sound
are displayed for the duration of the sound.

[ I left out PC / Windows / Mac and general Unix specific enhancements ]

In short: Not for $ 250 - sorry, guys; I'll just program around the bugs
and reboot after every MMA session to get my disk space back :-)
