I have discovered and can't get around a major bug in the NeXT implemntation
of (La)TeX.  When I preview the output from the following table

     & unmatched $\Longrightarrow$ search again (then accept?) &\\ \cline{1-3}
payoff & $\alpha^tx_t$ if matched; else 0 & $\alpha^Tx_T/(1-\alpha )$ \\ \cline{1-3}
\end{tabular}
\end{center}
\end{figure}


it looks fine --- even with zooming. But when I print it, a gap appears between
the table and the final vertical line.  This is not a LaTeX problem! Also,
it was suggested to me that replacing \hline with \cline{1-3}  (as I have
done, would get around the problem. It did not.

Please help.
