Publishing software on the NeXT

I've been thinking of trying to talk people here into using the NeXT for
creating their scientific papers, posters, and presentations. What kind of
software is available for this? I'm assuming what we would need is a desk-top
publishing system, but I am completely ignorant about those. I have heard of
FrameMaker - is it any good? Are there any others?

To make this go, we would need the capability to combine text, tables,
diagrams, scanned images, etc.

Thanks for any info.
