Contour plotting wanted:

One of my users needs to make contour plots of his data.

What I know of:
NextContour. No one at our site has succeeded in creating a
data file that NC finds acceptable. Sample plots don't have labels,
index lines. User interface less than sterling.

Gnuplot 3.2. Nice contours, but lines not labeled, no index
lines, non-clever intervals. Terminal driven.

	Contour by ktoh@td2cad.intel.com
Has labels, strange line indexing, but an awful algolrithm
(none?) for splining the contours. Command line driven.

What we really need is a version of IDL for the NeXT. Another good choice would
be Spyglass. At the high end, there's PVWave. One of these three really should
be ported. Richard Crandall, heads up!

GMT can do contour plots and much, much more. It's not interactive (like the
programs mentioned) but all the programs do produce PostScript on stdout
so you can pipe into "open" to preview using "Preview". It's available
via anon ftp from kiawe.soest.hawaii.edu.
