Well, many days after starting this "Photoshop" and "Image" thread, I have stumbled across something interesting. I've downloaded the demo copy of Compose In Color (CIC) off the archives. Hey, this is interesting! I don't have a color machine, so it kind of sucks for me, but it looks like something along the lines of a high-end pixel-editing program. Has anybody bought this program? Looks expensive. Looks slow on a color machine, too. But it's got lots of neat-o features, though I haven't finished futzing with it yet to see if any of them are really practical. -- John Todd | University of Rochester, Rochester NY USA Earth Milky Way CPU 276686 | "What took you so long?" - Connor MacLeod "Highlander" Rochester NY 14627| Jeeps Fixed, Technology Hacked, Lawns Mowed, Maidens Saved jtod@alora.cc.rochester.edu (NeXT mail) jtod_ltd@uhura.cc.rochester.edu

I also checked out the CIC demo, but wasn't blown away...it is definitely an interesting piece of work, but I don't know how practical it is...the interface really got to bother me...and the price...$900! $600 Higher Ed! Forget it! You have to show me something *VERY* impressive for that kind of price...I haven't heard anything more about the app either...no new demo version...it has been 1.0 on the servers forever...and I haven't received any email from the publisher in a long long time...are they still around??? I also checked out a Swiss program called TIFFany...the company is looking for a US distributor...has anyone seen/used it? Guess we're all still waiting for a good image editing app...hope something turns up soon! -Rob rawyatt@scf.usc.edu

It's not like Photoshop or Image. It's more like a real high-end system like a Crosfield or Scitex in a way. You can do things to a low-res version of your image and then have CIC "intelligently" apply those things to the big image overnight or whenever. andrew -- andrew@cubetech.com | "C++'s runtime sucks shit!
