How can one set up "keyboard macros" allowing one by a few keystrokes to get
predetermined blocks of text onto the screen one is editing? This should be
really useful for saving time when handling complicated tex jobs. Thanks for
any ideas!

One way would be to buy SimonSays. The new version will work with key
strokes instead of voice.

When you edit using Edit (at least under NS 2.1), create a file .editdict
with entries like the following:
a	\\alpha
b	\\beta
c	\\chi
d	\\delta
ep	\\epsilon

....
This will allow you to get the text following the tab by typing the
shortcut and then Escape. The characters before the cursor will be
replaced by the text blocks.

Is there any kind soul out there willing to e-mail or anon FTP to me
whatever it is that I need to get my CD-ROM drive talking to my original
cube? I've no floppy drive! My initial plan is to build a bootable
3.0 MO disk, then eventually do the SCSI disk. I'm told that our site
isc-br.isc-br.com will accept anonymous ftp data, for any helpful soul
to use.
