Hello there,
I am looking to purchase a FAX MODEM (preferably 9600/9600)
for the NeXT within the next 7-10 days. I have done some study on the
subject and have come up with the following possibilities. If there
are any that I am not aware of, PLEASE send them to me. I currently
have a Zoom 9600/2400 that I am very happy with, other then its lack of
a compatible fax driver from NeXT. (Zoom conforms to the mysterious, and
yet unapproved "Class 2" not-quite-yet-a-standard)

Dove Fax : Company is currently chapter 11. Not suggested.
Neuron : Over priced ($1000) and company is not longer existent (?)
            Lots of other reported problems.
Prometheus: Reasonably priced, but no driver available
Supra: No driver available
HSD (abaton Interfax) : Overpriced ($495 for 2400/9600) but available
            immediately. Driver part of OS.

I am a reasonably accomplished programmer and would gladly fill
out a skeletal FAX/MODEM driver if the basic code were available. I
consider a reasonable price for: a 9600/9600 modem <$600, a 9600/2400
modem < $200. I understand that a driver for the Supra will be released
"real soon now", but I need to be setup and running within 7-10 days and
this may not be "real soon".
If anyone out there has access to modifiable source code for
a fax/modem driver, or is aware of options which are not described
here, their (your) input would be appreciated!
