Is there any way to decipher NeXT mail from non-console? It merely emails a uuencoded file called ".tar_attach*" or whatever. But what kind of file is it? How can I decode it from home and deal with the files sent to me? -- Sam Hulick \ The morning is my pain; the night, my relief. We will shulick@indiana.edu \ all emerge young again. (NeXT mail welcome) /

Change the name .tar_attach to something reasonable (like Mymail.tar.Z) and uudecode it 2. uncompress it (gives Mymail.tar) 3. untar it Now you have a file called "index.rtf", which contains the main mail text, plus an additional file for every attached picture, sound, etc. The rtf files can be read on an ascii terminal, or you can write a little program to strip away the rtf commands. If you intend to read your mail on a pc or any other non-unix machine, check the archives for tar, uncompress, and uudecode. Have fun, Chris /* * Christian Neuss % neuss@igd.fhg.de % ..in the humdrum */
