Just top add fuel to the copy protedtion fire, I got a new version of Pixelmagician on Friday (1.2). It is one of my favorite pieces of software, but lo and behold on the floppy was an extra app called Shield(with a really snazzy icon, a little hard to miss). It was run by Pixelmagician the first time I started it up and apparently marks the floppy as having had its software installed. There is no mention of this app in the documentation or the readme file, just the proviso that you have to leave the non write protected floppy in the drive the first time you run Pixelmagician.
