I got one reply from Royce Howland about the modem control codes being sent to the modem even when someone's successfully logged in. (I've tried to mail a response but the return address was invalid and I haven't been able to figure out the correct one yet) Anyway, the error *might* have been the modem being set to echo codes (ATE1). This unfortunately renders tip unuseable (no comments as to whether or not that's the way it always is :-) ). ------ Mike Matthews, matthews@oberon.umd.edu (NeXTmail accepted) ------ Second Law of Business Meetings: If there are two possible ways to spell a person's name, you will pick the wrong one. Corollary: If there is only one way to spell a name, you will spell it wrong, anyway.
