zeke@esosun.UUCP (James Dehnert) writes: |The dump proceesed alright, but I cannot use the sun restore, the NeXT |restore, or the NeXT restore.old to recover any files. You were using: rdump.old 0fsdu mode:/dev/nrst0 6000 54000 /dev/rsd0a have you tried avoiding the NeXT dump / Sun rmt pair, and saying something like dump.old 0fsdu - 6000 54000 /dev/rsd0a | rsh mode dd bs=??? of=/dev/nrst0 This should make the sun simply copy bits to tape, rather than place any particular religious interpretation on them (:_)). Thus then may make the tape readable by a similar incantation involving the NeXT restore. If that doesn't work, something bizzare is happening, and you need to try dumping to/from a local file... --dave -- David Collier-Brown, | davecb@Nexus.YorkU.CA | lethe!dave 72 Abitibi Ave., | Willowdale, Ontario, | Stupidity is evil waiting to happen.
